Part 4

Back into it after a break - if that's what you call working on the house (and -10C degrees in a tin garage!). Firewall cut out, welded as well as tunnel.  More to go later but this will do for a while. Decided the jag diff is going - getting a heavy duty commondore diff built as I don't want to widen the track too much as it will become unregisterable in other states under the new national standards (check link below).

You can see the firewall welded in this shot (more welding and cleaning up later, including angling the corner to match the rocker covers).

Started doing the rack, using a Ford Laser - Mazda 323 rack, the tie rods fit straight into reversed HQ stubs. Just lifted it a bit to get the bump steer to neutral (pivot on the line between the upper and lower wishbone pivots).

If you are not sure of this, read this link - ' NATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND MODIFICATION OF STREET RODS IN AUSTRALIA '

Tony's Fj with 1UZ V8 being fitted, supra 5 speed. He's widening the track in the guards (2 inches a side) to fit an independent commondore rear, widened hr front, serious chassis, wants it to become a good handler. Only pics you'll see until the car is finished!

Started on the sump. Tony, from the FJ car club, cut me the plate (his 1UZ FJ pics in previous row). Borrowed McGee's (from the Lextreme forum) welder, so hopefully I can do some nice welds on the sump (thanks Bryan).
  Sump on it's way
Original filler will need cutting and relocating to reach new sump.

Pickup extended

Engine Mounts started.

Sump fitted.

More work on the engine mounts, used some neoprene suspension mounts I had lying around - shouldn't be a problem with vibration as these are so smoooooth an engine.
  Engine mounts strengthened
