Part 6

Engine out of car while I fit chassis kit to the body while it's mounted on the spit and then seam weld all the car for extra rigidity. This tightens the car up a lot as it's surprising how much it can flex because it's only spot welded together.

Car is on a rotisserie to help with welding and fitting the chassis kit.

BTW- the jag rear has gone, can't handle the power when shortened and when they break you do 180's down the highway, not nice. Going for a tough commodore diff - VL Turbo 4 pinion or shortened VN diff.

Commodore 17 x 8 in wheel fitted on VT V8 discs and machined hub (old commodore discs machined down - on left without disc). Fits ok, but only about 25 deg steering.

I'll fit 7's to the front to get it a little more clear of the guard and the suspension, hopefully getting 30 degrees of steering as well.

Wheel in straight ahead position.

Boot floor chopped out, fake boot 'drop tank box to go in.
Chassis welded to floor as engineer required

Rear chassis steel cut and welded into rear spring hanger. Note in ACT, when you add a chassis kit like this, don't add a mini chassis to tie the front and rear spring hanger together, as soon as you do it becomes an ICV (individually constructed vehicle) rather than a MPV (modified production vehicle). The difference - $3000 engineering fee against $700!
Engine out of car so I can I fit the gearbox crossmember. Note - if gearbox is upgraded internally- it can handle 600 hp and be modified to run as a tiptronic, keeping the 4 speeds. Don't listen to people who say, 'chuck it, stick in a turbo 350 or 400 as it will handle the power and more! MV automatics in Adelaide do a good job at a fair price.
Gearbox mount, chucked the old one, this is the new one (mark 2). I'm about to reshape it to get it up higher to get the exhaust up.

Gearbox mount in place, I'll rebuild/shape it up 2".

Gear shift in, commodore handbrake in floor.

You can see all the stitch welding in this shot to strengthen the seams, makes a big difference to torsional rigidity.

On the spit, had lots of questions about spits, I'll post sizes soon.

On the spit.

Started fitting up the steering, have to restrengthen the dash, using the tilt/extended column from the crown.
