Part 8

Rego might not like the intercooler locating 'rope'? Mocking up the location, trying to lay it as far forward as possible to allow air to flow around to the radiator. Plastic bag will keep the bugs out of the intercooler ;-}
Should be a nice 'sleeper' hidden behind the grille!

Pic1 - Looking forward, radiator surround not cut out yet.

Pic 2 - driver's side, I set the motor back as far as possible to get the weight back and give lots of room for the radiator and fan - looks like heaps of room but if you check page 10 you will see I only have 10mm clearance between the fan and the motor.

Other angles, you can see the steampipe headers.

How do you cut long silicone hoses or bent hoses in a nice straight line? Use a hose clamp and a sharp stanley knife! Then you can buy the cheaper long straight lengths and cut them into short joiners.

VL Turbo diff

The VL diff is a good fit in an Eh or other early Holdens. I had to narrow mine 2 in on the drivers side to fit nice and centre with 235 rubber and 7.5 in rims. The standard one comes with disc brakes, 25 spline axles and 2 pinion gears in the centre ($100 from wreckers).

The VL Turbo diff has

  • 28 spline axles (finer and able to take a greater load),
  • 4 pinion centre (load is transmitted through 4 gears not 2 as in standard VL).

Fitting new leaf spring mounts before final rebuilding and getting it trued.
